Avo Izabe's journey in building a permanent house for her family!
Meet Avó Izabe de Jesus, a dedicated farmer who lives in Loidahar village, Liquiçá municipality. As an independent woman with children, she worked hard in growing rambutan, orange, banana, and vegetables to build a permanent house for her family.
Avó Izabel and her children were previously lived in a traditional house. Her dream of having a permanent house becoming reality by the support from HALIRAS operation & maintenance program at water system Gunua 1 that was built in 2015.
The installed and rehabilitated water system by WaterAid Timor-Leste and the implementing partners has brought water close to avó Izabe’s house and helped to her grow fruits and vegetables that she sells.
By her 10 years’ commitment, now avó Izabe has a permanent house, garden full of fruits and vegetables that helps to complete her family basic needs. Avó Izabe happily said that “with the water close to my house, I grew vegetables and fruits that finally made me built a permanent house”.
The rehabilitation to the water system Gunua1 is supported by the Australian Government through Water for Women fund.
