Behaviour Change Communication Formative Research
WaterAid in Timor Leste has received funding through the Australian Aid Water for Women Fund to implement the project “Beyond Inclusion: Realising gender transformational change and sustainable WASH systems.” The project has been given the local name HALIRAS and aims to support the government in achieving hygienic status in the Liquiçá and Manufahi municipalities. Hygienic status requires maintaining open defecation-free status, improving household toilets, promoting handwashing with soap, implementing WASH in schools and healthcare facilities, and managing infant faeces. . The formative research was conducted to facilitate the design of an effective BCC intervention, which will be trialled as part of the HALIRAS project.
