Guidance on undertaking a gender and power analysis in WASH programs, to strengthen gender equality, disability and rights outcomes

A gender and power analysis for WASH examines the inequalities experienced by women and men, including women and men with disabilities, and people with diverse sexual orientation, gender expression and sex characteristics (SOGEISC) in their access to WASH services, control over resources, decision-making, roles and responsibilities and experiences of discrimination and exclusion. It also explores the barriers and opportunities for bringing more equality in WASH roles, services and decision-making in a specific context. Therefore, a gender and power analysis enables WASH programs to address inequalities, constraints and opportunities.
