NATIONAL CLIMATE CHANGE POLICY

Under article 61 of the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, everyone has the right to a humane, healthy, and ecologically balanced living environment and the duty to protect and improve it for the benefit of future generations, and the state must promote actions to defend the environment and safeguard the sustainable development of the economy. Knowing the strong bond that the Timorese people have with their environment, the climate changes that have occurred in the recent past and the impacts that these changes have caused to the vast natural resources of Timor-Leste are of particular concern.
