Mrs. Alsina said that she feels really proud because she could participate in this activity and gained some knowledge, especially on Gender Equality. Mrs. Alsina further stated that before the water system was installed in the village, it was hard for them to get clean water, they only had one water source for all and water will only be enough for them during rainy season as it will get dry during dry season. Having such a situation could cause the community to get angry with each other because the water quantity is small to be shared or distributed within the community. However, at the moment, the WASH program has already been implemented in our village and a GMF has been established, so we feel that water is now sufficient to be shared within the community.

With a smile and friendly expression, Mrs. Alsina also shared her own daily experience within the family’ “In our family, I realize that myself and my husband are really having a mutual understanding, normally, in the morning I woke up and prepared our breakfast and go to my work place (school) because I’m a primary school teacher. We both made a small decision such as; when I go to work, my husband will look after our kids and cook for lunch and when I returned from work I can help preparing some vegetables and later we have lunch together”. With this experience, I would like to encourage my fellow women to have an understanding in their family, especially with our beloved husband. We can use any manners to keep reminding each other that household work should be shared equally between men and women because when we talk about human right, both men and women have the same rights.
