Vice Prime Minister, Timor-Leste’s mal-nutrition percentage reached 47%
Dili, 20 March 2024, PNBESITL’s Coordinator, Mr. Januario Amaral participated in National Seminar celebrating World Water Day with the theme “Value Water, Foster Peace, in Laline Lariguto Hall, CAN.
Timor-Leste’s Vice Prime Minister, Eng. Mariano Asanami Sabino in his intervention expressed that “We recognize water is important, and today we celebrate World Water Day with the theme’s meaning water can contribute to foster peace. And Water as basic human rights for everyone”.
Timor-Leste today’s reached 47% of mal-nutrition as one of the principal factors coming from unclean water consumed by the community.
In National Strategic Development Plan, water and sanitation have become one of the priorities to be adequate and how to canalize sustainable and clean water to the community.
“On the occasion of World Water Day, it gives us the reflection that our water supply system needs to be improved."
This national seminar of World Water Day was participated by the Vice-Prime Minister, BTL.EP President, Director of DGREAS, representative of Vice-Minister of Ministry of Public Work’s cabinet including the members of civil society organizations and university students from the National University of Timor-Leste and Dili Institute of Technology.
