PN-BESI-TL Press Conference of National State Budget 2026 Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH)
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) is a basic human right and ensures a dignified and healthy life for the people through access to adequate, inclusive, and sustainable Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Thus, it is stated in the Constitution of the RDTL, article 6 talks about the objective of the State, especially in verse (e) to build a society that has social justice, to foster the well-being of citizens for body and soul and the Government has drawn up the goal of PEDN 2011-2030. adequate, sustainable, and inclusive.
In the Policy and Program of the IX Government which considers the Water and Sanitation Sector as a vital sector for the 5-year program, which has been quoted in the Government Program 3.3 states, Investment in access to clean water and Basic Sanitation cannot be postponed. No such infrastructure will affect public health or spread disease, death, and poor development to children.
Therefore, the National Platform for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene of Timor-Leste (PN-BESI-TL) together with members including partners present our observations and findings through a statement this press takes advantage of a moment that National Parliament (PN) will discuss the 2026 BUDGET in the PN.
