WASH Municipal Plan Review Workshop in Manufahi
Municipal Government of Manufahi, WaterAid team, and the implementing partners held a two days' workshop reviewing the WASH Municipal Strategic Plan of Manufahi
The strategic plan is crucial in measuring the progress and approaches to achieving the defined vision. It is also an instrument that clearly directs the plan’s implementation and goals to attain the vision. Therefore, on 22-23 of August, Manufahi’s Municipal Government, WaterAid Timor-Leste team, and the implementing partners in Manufahi held a workshop called “Manufahi’s WASH Municipal Plan Review” at the parochial hall, Manufahi. This workshop aims to review the plan’s implementation from each relevant departments and the WASH municipal plan’s integration into GEDSI and climate change. These two days’ activities began with the presentation of the Administrator of Manufahi Municipality, the President of BTL, E.P, Chief Cabinet of Secretary of State of Electricity, Water, and Sanitation, representative of the Secretary of State for Local Development, and National Director of Education Centre and Environmental Information. Furthermore, there was an interactive group discussion session regarding the achievements, contextual analysis using the PESTLE tool, strategic vision, strategic objective, and presentation of 2 days’ workshop results.
As a result, the plan implementation, achievements, opportunities, and key challenges were identified and accumulated according to the plan’s five objectives. Participants from Government institutions and civil society organizations were able to revise the strategic plan’s vision to consider the risks and impacts of the natural disaster in Manufahi a few months ago. This workshop was closed by a statement and commitment signed by the Municipal Government, local authorities, implementing partners, international organizations, and all the implementing agents of this WASH plan to consider the plan and implement it responsibly. Thus, by 2025, relevant entities in Manufahi municipality can achieve the vision of WASH being accessible, adaptable, inclusive, and sustainable. The Municipal Administrator gave his closing statement saying that he would invite the municipal integrated services and all the partners to present the reviewed document to the National Government so that the WASH Municipal Plan could be considered.
